Hey you guys!
It’s June 21st and I cannot believe that it has been a full year since I combed out my locs. It’s definitely a bittersweet moment. I am happy that I took a leap of faith with my hair one year ago. But I am also a little discouraged by all the setbacks that I’ve had this year. I can honestly say that a year ago I had no clue how to take care of my hair. I did not know how to cornrow, flat twist or even do bantu knots! (bantu knots are my favorite now) Not to mention, I didn’t even realize there was a difference between sulfate-free shampoos. I have come far in my natural hair journey. Also having healthy hair has become a propriety on my list. I won’t deny that I miss having long hair. My locs were at bra-strap length when I decided to take them out. My locs were heavy so I got use to feeling my hair touch my back and when I went to my fro. I didn’t feel anything. Like my hair was so light that I serious would forget I had any hair at all. It took time for me to get use to that.
I love my hair right now. It looks and feels healthy and I know how to take care of it now. I’m still working out a few kinks but I’m truly happy with my decision to comb out my locs. I always talked about taking them out but I never thought I would just go ahead and do it. lol
My 2nd year goals?
- Finding a Solution to my itchy scalp (already doing weekly washing, peppermint and tea tree oil, next step onions!)
- Doing more Protective Styling (mainly wigs for easy access to my hair)
- Keeping my hands OUT OF MY HAIR! lol 🙂
- Eating Healthier (fruits and veggies)
- Length Retention and Healthy Hair Growth
- Seasonal Trims (once the season changes get a trim!)
