My “Natural” Big Chop

After seeing that picture, you should know what I mean when I say my “Natural” big chop. I cut and then combing out all of my locs on June 21-23. Yes, It took 3 days. lol

A little background on me…
I have had dreads since April 2008. My mom always kept my hair in two strand twist and hair extensions. I don’t even remember ever having my hair relaxed. My mom said she tried a relaxer once on my hair, but my hair just didn’t agree with it.

After 7 years, Why Now?
Reason 1: I was honestly just ready for a change. It was a spur of the moment type thing. I literally decided the week before I took my locs out. I’ve always thought about taking my hair out and imagined long flowing loose curly hair. Boy, was I in for a big reality check! Reason 2: I was also having a lot of problems with built up. My scalp was starting to get really sensitive and it clearly wanted water. I was only getting my hair re-twisted every 4-6 weeks. My hair is really soft so I couldn’t wash in between of else it would look, like i never got it done in the first place. That was $100 going down the drain that I could not waste. SOOOO i cut it! lol

A LOT (4 bottles worth) of VO5 conditioner (very slippery); A natural cleansing shampoo;3 cheap rat tooth combs(I broke one halfway through); clips; and a spray bottle filled with water!!

The picture above pretty much shows it all. That really is me in the before and after photo. It was after my mom evened out my ends and blow dried my hair. I will update soon so you can see how my hair is now after almost 4 months, natural wear & tear and another trim! Bye for now
